June 18- 19th, 2005
Kenting, Taiwan is a tourist city that is at the most southern tip of Taiwan. At this time of year the streets are filled with tourists shopping and travelling. Rebecca and I left Saturday morning (June 18th) really early and caught the train (about an hour and a half trip) and then caught a bus for another hour ride. The bus ride was scary, swerving in and out of traffic. We got into Kenting around 10:30am and rented a scooter that we used to travel around.
Highlights:
-Hiking up to the 7 waterfalls and enjoying to cool fresh water. (see the pics)
-Seeing another side of Taiwan
-The mexican and Thai food- hmmmm....
-The beautiful beach... ahhhh.... Sand, sun, and blue water and sky
-The cockroach in Rebecca's hostel bed (we were really turned off)
-The aweful sunburn that I got the take home with me and suffer with for a week (which eventually all peeled away... oh well... so much for a tan)
-Running into Jill on the train ride home- a girl from my program (a Canadian girl!!)
-Riding home in the train by the steps because the train was so full that there were no seats left.

Rebecca and I babysat for the Anderson's kids for a day and night. They have three kids- William (10), Whitker (6), and Genevieve (4). They are great kids and we had a lot fun. In these pictures Genevieve is being so cute and posing for a picture. She is a blonde, blue eyed beauty. William and Whitker are playing games on my computer to pass the time, as it was raining and we live in a small apartment, they didn't have much space to run around.

Rainy Season
Good Day!
It has been raining constantly for the last week. They tell me it is rainy season. There is a storm rolling in and the clouds are roaring in the distance. I don't know if that means it will be windy and scary, but so far, just a calm steady drizzle upon us.
I am going to post some pics soon, but as my dad would say- I am either lazy or lying... so both those accusations are awful, so I will post soon. OK dad ;)
This weekend, Rebecca and I are babysitting for the Anderson's (who are off to meet Taiwan's president) kids- William, Whittker, and Geneveive. It is raining, not good news for Rebecca and I as we will have to manage to spend their energy quickly. I think McDonald's is on our agenda for the evening and probably a calm movie... any suggestions.
Well, I will post again soon!
